Deanie Richardson ~ Nate Lee ~ Megan Lynch Chowning
*Only 12 spots this year! Slots will be allotted lottery style. Please click here to get your name in "the hat." We will draw names the first week of January 2020 and inform all the lucky campers by January 8th. We will give the selected campers a couple of weeks to register and if any of them are not able to attend, we will draw new names.
*Dates for FiddleStar Adult Camp are Friday through Sunday, May 8-10, 2020
*The price for on-site lodging, tuition, and food is a mere $800. The price for traveling to and fro each day (we call this being a "day camper" which includes tuition, lunch, and snack) is $650. Day campers are still welcome at all camp activities, day or night.
Come join us in historic Ridgetop, TN for a long weekend retreat of great fiddling and lots of fun. Every day we will work on fiddle tunes, take jam classes, go to downtown Nashville to hear incredible music, learn to dance to fiddle music, and lots more. Incredible instructors will help you improve your technique, your improvisational skills, and anything you can think of to become a better fiddler. We only take 12 campers (lottery style from those who ask to be included in the drawing - no auditions or anything wacky like that) and those 12 campers will get to play fiddle knee to knee with some of the greatest fiddlers alive. All this happens in a beautiful home in the hills above Nashville, TN. It's mind-boggling, really.
Enjoy small classes and very individualized instruction, no matter what your level. Not only are our instructors world-class musicians, but more importantly, they are kind, patient, and focused teachers. You will be hands-on, working on improving your own skills. We think this camp is best for fiddlers who have been playing a little while and can get through some tunes comfortably. You don't have to be an advanced player by any means, but if you have been playing fewer than three years and want a slower, more repetition based experience geared toward the "fiddle newbie", please check out our Adult Beginner Camp.
Oh, and bonus - You can also have your fiddle worked on by the luthiers at the legendary Violin Shop while you're at camp. Fred Carpenter and his crew work on fiddles owned by everyone from Stuart Duncan to Alison Krauss and we are so proud to be partnered with them. The best of the best trust The Violin Shop and they're our camp luthiers. That's good stuff. We'll also visit the shop during camp so that you can do some instrument, bow, and accessory shopping as well as get all the fiddle maintenance advice you could ever want.
Important change in registration protocol this year. Please do not pay your deposit or fill out the registration form until you have been notified you got in to the camp through the registration lottery. If you do hear from us by January 8th that you got it, please come straight here and pay your deposit and fill out the form. Thank you!
Deposits, balances, meals, day campers, on-site lodging, it's all in the drop down menu just below. If you are paying your balance and have already registered, you do not need to resubmit the registration form on the left. Just click on the drop down menu and pay the appropriate balance. If you are merely paying your balance (not registering and paying your deposit) you do not need to fill out the registration form again.
