Hey flatpickers, looking forward to working with you on a handful of essential topics to do with bluegrass-style guitar playing. We’ll cover right hand technique extensively for both rhythm and lead playing, right and left hand exercises, fretboard mapping with an emphasis on triads, and how to create variations to tunes - which will ultimately get you on your way to improvising your own ideas on both vocal songs and instrumentals.
I’ll be gearing this class to target an intermediate level roughly, but there will be much that would interest beginners and advanced players as well. I’ll make sure basics are always discussed first with any of these topics but we will get into deeper territory with all of them also. My goal is to give you a bunch of tools and guidance that will make you become solid rhythm and lead players, and help you learn how to create interesting ideas anywhere on the neck with the technique to execute them.
